Il Cangiante (Corrado Levi): 2010 Ettore Sottsass Mirto vase / Svenskt Tenn vase 30 silk roses variable dimensions In 1986, architect, collector, artist and artists’ supporter Corrado Levi organized the show “Il Cangiante” [the iridescent] at PAC, Milan’s contemporary art pavilion. As a curatorial statement, he wanted the gallery staff to put everyday 30 fresh roses in the exhibition space. With this work, Lucie Fontaine pays homage to Corrado Levi and to his ephemeral act. But because Lucie Fontaine lives between fiction and reality, the roses are fake ones. Furthermore, she always asks the owner of the space in which the roses are exhibited to provide the vase and, therefore, at The Front Desk Apparatus, the project space of art advisor Rob Teeters, the roses were inside an Ettore Sottsass vase which value was much higher than the work itself, whereas at Fruit and Flower Deli it was provided by the gallery owner Rodrigo Mallea Lira, and it was a Svenskt Tenn vase.
